All New Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8 PLUS Features, Releasing Date

Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the most beautiful smartphone, I have ever seen. The combination of Glass, Metal & an absolute massive screen in the body is making it so attractive.

There are two versions of S8; the one named Samsung Galaxy S8 which comes with 5.8 inch display & the another one is Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus with 6.2 inch screen. Now you can pre-order both from today & it will start shipping on 21st April in US. Pricing, as always with Samsung, you can expect them to command a premium price. The early word is that, it will start at $720.

GALAXY S8 Hardware
The boldest feature is every phone's more important feature : the screen. On S8, it extends up & down to cover nearly the entire front of the phone. It also curves around the left & right, something Samsung is calling  " Infinity Display " which gives it the look of not having any bezels at all. The four corners of the screen are also slightly curved instead of squared-off, which adds some elegance & perhaps some screen durability.

It may seems like table stakes in 2017, but this phones are truly well-designed. There are no seams, only the barest of the camera bumps & everything seems milled down to sub-millimeter tolerances.

As Samsung has extended the screen near to the bottom, there are no home button on S8 & S8 Plus, Instead, it uses software button like other Android phone. One neat feature, some android apps hide those main buttons when they go full screen, but you can still firmly press the bottom of the screen to active the home button.

Samsung has also moved the Fingerprint sensor to the back. It's on the back now, right next to the camera. That's not a very convenient place to it. It's too high up on the phone to reach & it also right next to the camera module, which might mean you'l be getting fingerprints on the camera more often than you would like.

Both the USB-C port & 3.5 mm headphone jack are located on the bottom of the phone. You have power button on one side & volume buttons on another side.

Galaxy S8 Features
As you expect, Samsung offers you the best features you can expect from an Android device. Depending on the region, you will either get Qualcomm newest snapdragon 835 or Samsung own's Exynos. In both cases, Samsung is touting that they are built on a 10 nm chip.

The Standard S8 has a 570 ppi 5.8 inch screen with a resolution of 2960*1440 . The S8 Plus has the same resolution on it's 6.2 inch screen which works out on 529 ppi.

In terms of other specification, S8 will have 4GB RAM & 64GB of ROM and an expandable SD card slot.

Galaxy S8 Battery
Samsung did not push the envelope when it comes to the capacity. the S8 has a 3000 mAh battery & S8 Plus has a larger one 3500 mAh - the same capacity note 7 had. But neither is specially large when you consider the fact that they need to power towering screen. Samsung claims it has tweaked the battery chemistry to help the batteries to last longer after a year or two of use.

To make up for it, Samsung is offering the usual suit of power options; Qualcomm Charge and support for both major wireless charging standards.

Galaxy S8 Cameras
Another place where Samsung has not pushed the envelope in the camera. The S8 comes with the exacts same Rear Camera as the S7, 12 MP sensor with OIS. Samsung says it's done work on the software side to improve in picture quality.

It is notable that S8 Plus does not get a better camera or dual camera setup. Expecting Screen & battery size, both phones are identical.

Bixby, Samsung Personal Assistant
Samsung may not have put a ton of effort in changing it's hardware design language, updating it's camera, or packing in a bigger battery. But it has been focused on figuring out how to make software that picture people actually like, and it's all centered in a new virtual assistant called BIXBY.

Bixby is launched by pressing an honest-to-god dedicated physical button. It has basically 3 modes:

1. A short-press of the button takes you to BIXBY home.
2. Long-pressing the button turns on BIXBY's Voice feature.
3. There's a small button on the camera app for BIXBY augmented reality feature.

Describing a New Breed of Cross-Platform Mobile Apps

Sometimes it feels like we’ve been arguing over which is better, a native app or a hybrid app, since the beginning of time, with dire consequences predicted for anyone who chose incorrectly. But a lot has changed since 2012. First of all, HTML5 support is now so ubiquitous that even the term itself has begun to sound like an anachronism. Nobody really touts their HTML5 support anymore — it’s simply assumed. In terms of mobile app development, the landscape has changed dramatically too. The native development landscape changed significantly with introduction of  Swift . This eliminated one of the major “pain points” of doing native development, at least according to some — Objective C. Cordova  (aka PhoneGap) has  improved for hybrid development , as has the WebViews that it relies upon for both  iOS  and  Android . Projects like Crosswalk  have even smoothed out the fragmentation issue that famously plagued Android. In addition, a large number of cloud-based tools, including
